ESI Ethics & Social Media: What Have We Learned Since 2014?
As the legal use of social media has expanded, so have issues of ethical quandaries.
This webinar will discuss how social media has impacted the legal profession and what steps the profession might take to use social media in an ethical manner. The program will explore problems that attorneys have encountered in their social media use and how these problems might be minimized or eliminated.
Educational Objectives:
• Understand what “competence” means in the context of social media use
• Appreciate how social media may be used to advertise
• Recognize what might or might not be appropriate advice to clients with regard to their social media use
• Understand how social media usage can be consistent with the protection of confidential communications
• Learn how social media can be used to investigate witnesses and jurors
• Appreciate the restrictions on communications with judges over social media
