The Power Act: A Way to Make a Difference - Pro Bono Opportunities in Family Law
Sponsored by Alameda County Bar Association and US District Court Northern District of California
Please join the Northern District of California for its annual program about pro bono opportunities in the areas of domestic violence and family law and learn how you can make a difference. Pro bono domestic violence work not only allows you to make a dramatic difference in someone’s life with just a little time – it also offers the chance to develop important legal skills to advance your career.
Come hear Judge Tigar talk with Professor Mallika Kaur, an author, lawyer, teacher and organizer who directs the Sikh Family Center, a national community-based gender justice nonprofit, and teaches at Berkeley Law, where she also runs the DV Field Placement program. Following their discussion, you will hear from law firm and in-house lawyers, who will describe their satisfying and rewarding experiences volunteering to help victims of domestic violence.
