Weaponizing the First Amendment - September 3, 2020

Weaponizing the First Amendment: Is the Free Speech Clause Becoming the 21st Century Lochner?

Sponsored by The American Constitution Society

The rights bestowed to us within the Constitution face a grave danger. The Free Speech Clause is being used by corporate and right wing interests to undermine progressive efforts in areas such as Campaign Finance Reform (Citizens United), Reproductive Rights (NIFLA v. Becerra), Consumer Protection (Sorrell v. IMS Health) and Labor (Janus).

Join the ACS San Diego, Austin, Bay Area, Columbus, Connecticut, DC, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Michigan, Northeast Ohio, Oregon, and Tampa Lawyer Chapters for a panel discussion to better understand the misuses of the First Amendment in these areas.

Johanna Schiavoni, Appellate Attorney, California Appellate Law Group LLP; President, San Diego County Bar Association
